Gravity has a great effect on the disfigurement of all parts of the body with aging. Passing years take a lot from the body. But gravity has a great effect on some parts of it. One of these parts are the breasts. It doesn’t matter if the breasts are big or small, it is possible for them to sag due to gravity. This is not only due to old age. Gaining and losing weight and pregnancy can also cause sagging breasts. Sagging breasts can be put in the desired shape with a breast lift.
Sagging breasts can not only cause aesthetic problems in women but also psychological problems. An active cause of sagging breasts is loss of elasticity. This can also occur in young age. Using the wrong bra size or not using a bra at all can cause the breasts to sag. It is also known by very few people that prolonged smoking causes the breasts to lose elasticity. Gravity however is an uncontrollable situation. Repetitive deliveries and prolonged periods of breastfeeding also make sagging inevitable.
What is a Breast Lift?
With a breast lift the sagging breasts are restored to their normal form. In cases with sagging and enlarged breasts, the procedure is carried out together with a breast reduction surgery. If the breasts are too small however, the breast lift procedure is combined with a breast augmentation surgery to create fuller looking breasts. A breast lift is carried out under general anesthesia and takes about 1.5-2.5.
Breast Lift and Scarring
As it is in all aesthetic surgeries, a breast lift also leaves a scar. But with good scar care these can be made nearly invisible. The best way to achieve this is to avoid too much sunlight. On the other hand, interventions around the nipple will not leave any scars due to the pigmented structure of the nipple.
After a Breast Lift
There is no pain after a breast lift procedure. However the patient is required to stay in the hospital for one day for the application of cold compresses and hemorrhage control. After 10 days the patient may resume daily activities.
